Ice Ice Baby – You Are Serving And The Opposing Coach Calls Timeout

Ice Ice Baby…

So it is late in the set and either you are on a serving streak, or you have missed a serve or tow earlier in the match, and now, the opposing coach calls a timeout. The coach wants to “ice” you.

The coach wants you to think about the serve. Hopefully think so much that you miss the serve.

You can learn a lot on how to handle your position from others who have been through this.

This happens in most sports, especially in football when a kicker is trying for an important (ususally game-ending) field goal.

Here is what Ryan Longwell, a kicker for the Minnesota Vikings, says: “I like when a coach calls a timeout. It gives me a chance to make sure the footing is right and gives the lineman a chance to rest. Keep on icing me.”

Use the timeout to relax, to compose and to visualize a perfect serve.
